Experience on the Streets of Utrecht by a German Marketing Student

After a few weeks of study in Utrecht, I have gained some experience with the dynamics on the streets. While there are some cars and a few pedestrians around, cyclists are making the rules and no one takes care about laws. Although I knew that bikes are very common in the Netherlands, I didn’t expect such a tremendous amount of bicycles. Most of them seem to be very old, but they have a great value for everyone. That’s why people use one or two giant bike locks to secure them. For me as a German, it is amazing how such an obviously chaotic system can work. Well, at least I have to assume that it is actually working since I haven’t seen any accident yet. In my opinion two things are really important to live here. First of all, you need a bike. It is necessary to become a member of the authority of the streets. Furthermore parking costs are unaffordable. Secondly, you need a Dutch cellular phone to call the school on your first day, if you get lost in the beautiful and narrow alleys downtown. In conclusion the best word to describe Utrecht is lovely. I am sure, if you come to Utrecht, you will see what I mean. TiasNimbas helps foreign students with finding accommodations in Utrecht.

Huge Congratulations to TiasNimbas Full-Time Graduates

The graduation day at TiasNimbas was held on Friday, 11th December. After having lunch together and much arrangement of hats and gowns, the students proceeded to the 'Domkerk' in Utrecht for a traditional and very beautiful ceremony. A wonderful day was had by all and the celebrating continued with a ‘borrel’ in the Academiegebouw after the award had been handed out. The best wishes to all the students who graduated and here’s to a successful start to their career.

The TiasNimbas Student Association (TNSA) Christmas Gala 2009

At TiasNimbas we have a student association called the TNSA. One of the activities of the TNSA is organising social and business networking events. One of the events is the Christmas Gala. Katrien de Nijs, current marketing student reports on the event. “After a planning period of around two months, Saturday, the 12th of December, the day of the gala, finally had arrived! At 9 p.m. we opened the doors of the Yellow Castle at Janskerkhof for ourfellow students to celebrate the Roaring Twenties. Charleston music combined with a Christmas decoration set the right atmosphere for the TNSA Christmas Gala 2009. Just like in the real 20s the “Dudes“ were dressed in smokings, wearing hats and bow ties and the “Betties“ in beautiful robes and dresses, wearing feather boas, gloves and hair bands. All these nice outfits have been captured by a professional photographer with enthusiasm. The gala was a great success. Thanks to our brilliant DJs we danced and celebrated into the early morning hours. For the gamblers amongst us two Blackjack tables and a Roulette gave them the opportunity to try theirluck. Thank you to all for coming, dressing up so nicely and making this event so much fun. We had a wonderful time!”
