On the evening of 6 November 2008, current students from a wide range of programmes joined staff and alumni in welcoming Prof. Dr. Jacques Sijben to TiasNimbas Utrecht. Prof. Dr. Sijben, Professor of Monetary Economics and author of the book Rational Expectations and Monetary Policy, shared his insights about the credit crisis in an inspiring guest lecture entitled, The Credit Crisis: Recession or Recovery?
In a lecture that looked back at the Great Depression in the 1930s, the resulting strict regulatory system and the deregulation of financial markets in the 1980s as well as at the present crisis and his predictions for the future, Prof. Dr. Sijben delivered a fascinating narrative. The group of over 75 current students and alumni took the opportunity to ask questions before everyone moved next door for a glass of wine and further discussion.
