Coming to Utrecht and The Netherlands has been an unforgetable experience. After arriving to a crowded airport and traveling with the agile train system, I ended my journey with a cab drive with my luggage from central station to my student room arranged by TiasNimbas.
At first sight Utrecht was bigger than I expected. I saw lots of cafes and restaurants, and hordes of bicycle dwellers speeding all over the city. Even better, it only took me 15 minutes before I was at TiasNimbas and was welcomed to my new home city. The beginning of the fall season brought cool weather. However, I managed to visit The Dom, the canals, the cafes and, of course, the fresh local grocery stores. I remember clearly a pastry shop with homemade sugar donuts which I'm sure are not a Dutch specialty, but you will surely enjoy.
To be honest, even though I had a map I still had trouble finding specific streets. However, that proved to be an excuse to take a better look of those architectural spots Utrecht has hidden all over its small streets.
While the brown leaves started covering parks and sidewalks of Utrecht, I became fully involved in my studies, got used to riding my bike and enjoyed with my classmates the details of life in The Netherlands. Don't forget Heineken makes part of the Dutch "package deal".
